Lead Consultant and Chief Storyteller Diane Harms has always had a passion for communication and the intersection of science and business.
Diane Harms, Lead Consultant and Chief Storyteller
After being one of the first 17 people in Canada to participate in the WestLink Technology Commercialization Internship and experiencing fundraising from the side of a venture capitalist, Diane began working in academia to help facilitate research and encourage commercialization. Her strong skills in science communication, marketing, and fundraising allowed Diane to help companies and researchers raise over $57 million dollars in capital and operational investments over the last 12 years.
After working as a consultant for several years, she took a leadership role with Lakeland College to help them to build their research enterprise and engage in community economic development in a completely novel way. Diane was a driving force in creating a thriving applied research facility at Lakeland College’s Vermilion campus, showcasing the intersection of the College’s research expertise in agriculture, environmental sciences, and energy.
Diane is a long-time champion of Startup Lloydminster, a business incubator and support organization helping companies navigate start-up and growth challenges and currently serves as their Board Chair. Diane is also pleased to be working with Decentralised Energy Canada as their Program Manager for the Community Generation Initiative.
Diane currently works as a consultant in the areas of renewable energy, agriculture, and environmental sciences supporting industry and innovators in developing projects, training, infrastructure, and research programs that accelerate innovation in Canada.
Diane lives in Vermilion, Alberta with her family.
